Narendra Modi is the 14th Prime Minister of India and the Member of Parliament for Varanasi. He is the first Prime Minister of India born after India's independence. He was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from October 7, 2001 to May 22, 2014. Modi is a member of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

 

Born into a Gujarati Teli family in Vadnagar, Modi helped his father sell tea as a child and later ran his own stall. At the age of eight, he joined the RSS, with which he had a long association.

Like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Narendra Modi is a politician and a poet. Apart from Gujarati language, he also writes patriotic poems in Hindi.

Early life and family



Narendra Modi was born on 17th September 1950 in Vadnagar to Mahisana District Pansari family. Narendra Modi was the third of six children of Damodardas Mulchand and Hiraben Modi.

As a child, Narendra Modi was helping to sell tea at his father's tapri at Vadnagar railway station, and later started his own tea stall with his brother.

He took higher secondary education from Vadnagar in 1967. Narendra Modi's teacher said that he was a simple student and was good at speaking. So the teachers honoured him with prizes.

 


When Narendra Modi was participating in the play. At that time, they were playing a bigger role than their life's work. And its impact on his political life. Narendra Modi started coming to RSS branch at the age of 8.

There he met Laxman Rao Inamdar. He selected Narendra Modi as a child volunteer in RSS. He guided Narendra Modi in politics.

 

 

Political career:


When Narendra Modi joined the Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1971, he became involved in politics. In 1975-77, political turmoil was going on. The then Prime Minister was Indira Gandhi.

Asked to shut down organizations like RSS. Then Narendra Modi wrote a book "Sangharsh Maa Gujarat" in which he wrote about politics in Gujarat.

In 1978, Narendra Modi completed his Master's degree in Political Science and University of Gujarat in 1983. Narendra Modi joined the Bhartiya Janata Party in 1987. During the BJP, he did many things for the society.

 


He encouraged small business. In 1995, Narendra Modi was appointed as the National Minister.

In February 2002, when Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister. An oncoming train was then attacked by unknown individuals. There was a lot of debate going on. Therefore, the Narendra Modi government declared a curfew.

After some time, peace was restored in both the communities and after that many people across the country criticized the Narendra Modi government that more than 1000 Muslims were killed in this attack.

 

Two committees of inquiry were set up against Narendra Modi but the Supreme Court could not charge him as there were no witnesses against him.

Then in 2007 and 2012 Narendra Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat again. And since then, Narendra Modi has started paying more attention to economic development. Modi is still credited with the development and progress of Gujarat.

Today, his Gujarat is famous all over the country. He greatly expanded his business in Gujarat.

 

In the June 2013 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi was declared the BJP's prime ministerial candidate. Where many had already assumed him as the Prime Minister of India. In the Lok Sabha elections, 282 out of 534 seats were secured.

With this, he defeated the Indian National Congress, which has been in Indian politics for the last 60 years. The Indian people also supported Modi.

February 2019 Seoul Peace Prize - The Seoul Peace Prize 2018 was announced to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in South Korea on Friday. He is the first Indian and the 14th person to receive this award.

In April 2016, Narendra Modi was awarded Saudi Arabia's highest civilian honor, The Order of Abdul-Aziz Al Saud.

In June 2016, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani honored Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Amir Aman Ullah Khan Award, Afghanistan's highest civilian award.



September 2018 ‘Champions of the Earth Award’ - The honor was given to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his commitment to the International Solar Alliance and his determination to rid the country of single plastics.

April 4, 2019: The United Arab Emirates awards the country's highest civilian award, the Order of Zayed.

April 12, 2019: Russia confers its highest civilian honors, St. Andrew's Order
